 "Non-traditional Shakespeare!"

“It's Shakespeare as Willy himself intended!"

“What stars do spangle heaven with such beauty?”

  DO YOU LIKE SHAKESPEARE?

If you said, “No” then you haven’t seen GOOD Shakespeare!  This is the summer you’ll fall in love with the Bard as we make him vibrant and alive to modern audiences. In Shakespeare’s time, his plays were the equivalent of our modern-day soap operas or sitcoms. An international troupe of award-winning directors and actors join local favorites and school children to entertain, thrill and move you this summer. Like Will & Co., we not only invite audience participation, we provoke it!  Whether you’re a devoted fan or reluctant newcomer scarred by a high school “Hamlet” pop quiz, ours is a place where everyone can come together under the stars and find something to thrill, delight and move them. We GUARANTEE you’ll walk out saying “YES, I LIKE SHAKESPEARE!”

We’re putting the “shake” back in Shakespeare!©

OUR GOAL is simple:  To bring Shakespeare back to the masses--make him accessible to modern-day audiences and restore him to his original intention—that of entertaining as many people as possible. Raised in a rural, middle-class family himself, William Shakespeare originally wrote for the blue-collar “commoners” of England—they (not royalty) were his audience.  His plays were bawdy, irreverent, vibrant and broadly comedic. If Shakespeare wrote today, his plays would be attended by people from all walks of life. Far from being "high brow" (as he is oft-charged with today) Shakespeare and his original company of actors were, in truth, a little more mischevious.  (If not downright felonious--they stole the original Globe Theatre out from under the nose of their boss and moved it, piece by piece, across the river!)

HE WAS a “little bit country, a little bit rock n roll”. His gift was his mass-appeal.

OUR SMALL group of hand-picked, internationally-renowned actors all play multiple, gender-bending roles.  We perform on a simple, arena-style (platform) stage with nothing to detract from the power and force of Shakespeare’s words--minimal sets, props, lighting and costumes.

WE HUMBLY OFFER this traditional type of Shakespearean production—for the masses, appealing to everyone; healthy fun for kids and adults, serious theatre-goers and first-timers alike.  Ours will be a place where everyone can come together and find something to enjoy, delight and move them, right in the heart of the Valley.
