1. BE A GRACE GIVER: Our shows take place on the Mary Devlin/Margaret Harmony "Women of Grace" Stage, named in honor of Artistic Director (and Theatre Founder) Donna Devlin's grandmothers. They served as inspiration for her to follow her dreams from "backwoods" New Hampshire to a career in entertainment that spanned New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and London. This "little girl with a dream" has come back to NH to do for another generation what her grandmothers did for her: create possibilities. With this theatre, our amazing actors will excite and inspire. Through the Youth Camps, we'll give kids the tools necessary to make their dreams come true. Our Mission Statement is to be one of the few theatres that actively recruits actors with physical disabilities for our Main Stage Company. As well, we’ll bring performance opportunities to disadvantaged area youth and children with physical disabilities by offering the REACH FOR THE STARS “CAN DO”® YOUTH THEATRE CAMP, where kids will work on performance skills under the mentorship of our professional acting corps.
And that’s where we need your help. In our area, where the affluent vacation, many of the locals struggle just to get by and children’s talents dwindle and die because there are very few school-funded arts programs. The wealthier kids can afford private programs but those who are lower-income fall through the cracks. We will fill that gap. And, although there are many athletic programs available, very few arts-based programs actively pursue children with physical disabilities. Partnering with local disabled programs, we aim to change that this summer. We ask that you make a “gift of grace” in honor of a “Woman of Grace” in your life and, in doing so, underwrite scholarships for under-privileged campers. Any surplus will be used to add more kids and instructors to the camps and fund benefit performances of our shows for disadvantaged persons (especially senior citizens) in our area. All “grace givers” and their honorees will be listed in the program. As well, for gifts of $250 or more, you’ll receive two free tickets to the performance of your choice anytime in the season, with reserved VIP seating. (Those who give $250 or more will receive two free adult tickets for that evening’s performance, those who give $249 or less will receive two “2 for 1” tickets). In order to be included in the program, we must get your donation by July 1st. But we’ll gratefully accept your gifts, in any amount you can afford, whenever you are able to give them.

2. HOST AN ACTOR: Do you have a spare room, guesthouse, vacation cabin or other available furnished housing in the Waterville Valley-Campton area? If so, please consider housing one of our out-of-town guest artists this summer. We are in need of suitable temporary housing for our guest artists, many of whom travel long distances to participate in our summer productions. Housing is generally needed from early June through late August for our repertory actors. In exchange for housing a guest artist, hosts will receive complimentary tickets to both of our plays (any night of their choosing) as well as recognition in the theatre program and the knowledge that they are helping to support the arts in the Pemi Valley!
If you can help house an actor this summer or would like more information, please call us at (603) 726-0098 or drop us an email. Thanks so much!
3. VOLUNTEER: It takes a village to raise a child AND run a summer stock theatre! The fact of the matter is, there simply are not enough funds to pay all the people vital to the production of a theatrical endeavor. So, we rely upon community support to accomplish a variety of tasks during our productions. Volunteers are needed to help distribute posters and brochures, sell ad sales and tickets at the box office, take tickets at the door, serve food and drink at our concessions stand before the plays and during intermissions, and assist the House Manager with patron seating and chair rentals. Not your thing? Perhaps you have special skills in set design or construction, costuming and make-up, or other facets of theatre production. For Romeo & Juliet we even need a babysitter to watch over the children in our production when they are backstage! Let us know what you are willing (and able) to do, and we will find a place for you! In exchange for helping, volunteers will receive complimentary tickets to the play of their choice. If interested, please call us at (603) 726-0098 or drop us an email.
4. IN KIND DONATIONS: Theatre Under the Stars is in need of many items to stage this year's productions, as well as build our supply inventory for future years. Unfortunately, our budget doesn't allow us to purchase these items -- therefore, we must turn to you, our loyal supporters, for donations.
1. car loans for summer season (Many of our actors are from NYC and don't have cars)
2. fabrics and trims of any type
3. wigs
4. lighting equipment
5. solar path lighting
6. period footwear
7. furniture to use as props
8. storage for costumes and set pieces in winter months
Those are just a few of the things we need. If you have something you'd like to offer, give us a call! Individuals interested in donating any needed items should call 603-726-0098, or drop us an email as soon as possible.
